Drilling and boring in the ground

These processes are involved at many stages on site (to varying degrees), and can either be manual (e.g. handheld sampling auger) or using specialised machinery (e.g. mobile drilling rig). They can be used from the initial site investigation and sampling stage that assesses site characteristics (refer to site investigation) through to the construction phase (e.g. shaft sinking or piling).
