In 2003 CIRIA, as lead partner of a consortium, were awarded a contract by the ODPM to undertake research under the Building Regulations Research Programme Sanitation Framework Agreement. The framework is one of five set up by the ODPM to provide sound scientific evidence to support the review of the Approved Documents that underpin the Building Regulations. The other frameworks cover Fire Safety, Structural Integrity, Building Occupant Interaction and Building Operational Performance (visit www.rmd.odpm.gov.uk for further information).
Work undertaken under the Sanitation Framework Agreement supports the review and development of Approved Documents G (Hygiene) and H (Drainage and Waste Disposal) and supporting guidance, codes and standards.
To provide leading sanitation related expertise and facilities to undertake specified research projects in support of the Building Regulations Research Programme.
