The 2009 European Marine Sand and Gravel Group Conference:
A wave of opportunities for the marine aggregates industry

7th and 8th May, 2009

Introduction

EMSAGG is pleased to contribute to its aim of disseminating information and encouraging the exchange of ideas across different disciplines involved in marine sand and gravel. This international conference will allow delegates to gain an understanding of the latest environmental, technical, regulatory, economic and future issues for marine sand and gravel and to share experiences and thoughts with international peers. An exciting programme with presentations from leading figures from all over Europe, and discussion sessions provide an effective means of gaining information and contacts within this area.

Who should attend?

Hosted By Arenaria Srl

The 2009 EMSAGG conference is hosted by Arenaria Srl who joined EMSAGG in 2007. Arenaria Srl, a company of Officine Maccaferri Group and is the first Italian company to have permission to extract submarine deposits from the Adriatic Sea. Focusing its activities on integrated coastal zone management, the company aims to supply marine sand for coastal projects and maintenance operations.

Conference

The conference will be held at the Frentani Conference Centre located in the heart of Rome, just few steps away from Rome’s central station Termini, University of Rome (Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”), the CNR (Italian National Research Council) and Rome’s National Library. Rome is the capital city of Italy and stands on top of more than two and a half thousand years of history. Rome is the seat of the Roman Catholic Church that controls the Vatican City as its sovereign territory, an enclave of Rome. Today, Rome is a modern and cosmopolitan city and the third most visited tourist destination in the European Union. As one of the few major European cities that escaped World War II relatively unscathed, central Rome remains essentially Renaissance and Baroque in character. The historic centre of Rome is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Drinks Reception

Delegates will be able to network at a drinks reception to be held on 7th May 2009, which is included in the ticket price.
