CIRIA supports greater recognition for civil and construction sector ‘innovators’

CIRIA has announced that it will be supporting the UK’s premier prize for engineering innovation – The MacRobert Award 2008, presented by the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The Winning entry will be honoured with a gold medal and the team members will receive a prize of £50,000.

Open to any individual or organisation of any size in the public, private or charitable sectors, the Award Committee seeks to identify world-leading engineering developments which demonstrate innovation, commercial success and benefit to the community.

As representatives of the engineering and construction industry, CIRIA is calling on its members and other leading innovators in the industry to enter.

CIRIA chief executive, Bill Healy said: “There is much innovation taking place in engineering and construction, though, with the exception of Roger Bullivant Limited, who reached last year’s final selection stage; this competition has not attracted large numbers of entries from this sector.

“CIRIA is proud to support this prestigious award and hope that we can encourage the best from our sector to step forward and claim the recognition they deserve.”
