In response to the recommendations of the draft Brownfield Skills Strategy, CIRIA has initiated the development of the first UK electronic learning platform for practitioners involved in brownfield redevelopment projects. This e-learning project is funded by national regeneration agency, English Partnerships and national skills agency, the Academy for Sustainable Communities
This project will involve the creation of a number of training modules that are designed specifically for different types of brownfield practitioners ranging from local authorities to consultants. It will provide an accredited, bespoke training package, designed to deliver training for practitioners with tight time and cost constraints. The training package will incorporate existing training material and guidance documents produced by various organisations, including CIRIA.
The draft Brownfield Skills Strategy was published by ASC and English Partnerships and is open for public consultation until 27th May. It is designed to increase the number of regeneration professionals and improve brownfield skills levels in support of government aspirations to build 3 million new homes by 2020.
