SD:SPUR Assessment and comparison of options for the management of decommissioning
wastes (P2496)
Expressions of interest sought
The objective of the project is to carry out a generic assessment and comparison
of options for the management of radiologically clean and slightly radioactive
solid decommissioning wastes.
The project will:
- provide an opportunity for stakeholders throughout the UK to be involved
in assessing options for managing decommissioning wastes, including reuse
or recycle within an internal nuclear industry market or an external general
market, as well as disposal
- address the issue of the application of the waste hierarchy to managing
the wastes from decommissioning nuclear sites, given the wide range of stakeholder
views on the health risks of radiation
- provide input to the stakeholder engagement exercises that are required
at each nuclear site before integrated waste strategies are implemented
- assist those responsible for implementing the new UK policy for the management
of low level radioactive waste
CIRIA are seeking expression of interest from organisations interested
in tendering for the this project. If you are interested, contact Mark
Bentley at CIRIA.
