Leading providers of flood risk management and drainage guidance, CIRIA has announced that it will be supporting The Water and Environmental Exchange (WEX) international summit in 2008.
The three-day summit includes a wide-ranging conference led by a panel of internationally recognised speakers. Sessions include panel debates, workshops, and round table discussions.
The event will start with welcome dinner and there will be a special themed lunch with tables devoted to specific subjects and each hosted by an expert in that particular field, a site visit to a desalination plant in the region of Malaga and a gala dinner.
More than 1000 one-to-one meetings designed to forge new partnerships and
collaborative working, has been schelduled into the programme.
CIRIA Associate Paul Shaffer, who will be speaking about flood risk management
and drainage on day three of the summit, said: “With its wide range
of internationally-recognised speakers, and intensive programme of meetings,
WEX 2008 should prove to be a unique networking and learning experience for
anyone involved in the water sector.“
WEX will be held in Marbella, Spain from 30 January to the 1 February 2008.

About Paul Shaffer, CIRIA
Paul is an Associate at CIRIA where he is involved in initiatives that promote
the sustainable use and management of water with a focus on sustainable drainage
and increasingly flood risk management. His work on sustainable drainage has
included the development of guidance, conferences and training designed to
help overcome the challenges of implementation.
He’s also the Secretary for the England and Wales National Sustainable
Drainage Working Group and sits on the Advisory Group for the Practice Guide
for PPS25 Development and flood risk.
