UK Green Building Council board member Dr David Strong has been announced as the keynote speaker at a new CIRIA conference (supported by the CIEF and Forum for the Future) Delivering sustainable construction on site, on 3rd October 2007, London
The conference will take a strategic look at the challenges and opportunities for delivering sustainable construction with prominent speakers from the construction industry.
Speaker presentations will discuss the challenges being faced by construction from different perspectives. The client’s perspective will be presented by Forum for the Future who has worked with a range of high profile clients. Skanska will deliver the contractors perspective, Crossrail will discuss the challenges being faced in relation to its high profile project and the Environment Agency will outline their current initiatives within the construction sector.
Interactive workshops, delivered by recognised industry practitioners throughout the day will give delegates the opportunity to explore and discuss a range of themes including climate change, delivering exemplary environmental performance, supply chain engagement and key legislation in terms of the Water Framework Directive, ecology and biodiversity, and materials and waste.

CIRIA is a member-owned organisation that works with the construction industry, government and academia to provide performance improvement products and services in the construction and related industries.
It was founded in 1960 and currently engages with around 700 subscribing organisations. Activities include collaborative projects, networking, publishing, workshops, seminars and conferences. About 40 projects are run at any one time, about 100 events are staged every year, and 25 books published per annum.
