Tarmac, British Gypsum and Halcrow were among the winners of the AMEC Supplier of the Year Awards 2006.
Tarmac received an award for Collaborative Working; the Excellence in Sustainability category was awarded to British Gypsum for Plasterboard Recycling and winner of Achievement through Innovation was Halcrow for the M60 Bridges project. Halcrow was also presented with the Overall Winner 2006 Award.
Presentation of Supplier of the Year Awards 2006 complemented the successful completion of the supply chain partnership undertaken by AMEC with Envirowise, CIRIA and Bureau Veritas
During the award ceremony Andy Haworth, Supply Chain Director at AMEC’s design & project services business, outlined the benefits to AMEC and their supply chain of EPIC – a CIRIA-developed training tool to deliver the environmental and business benefits of improved resource efficiency and waste minimisation – and urged other contractors to establish their own supply chain partnerships.
Mike Payne from Envirowise, introduced the new initiatives and projects they will be carrying out as part of their support to the construction industry in the forthcoming year, and encouraged any contractors willing to undertake a supply chain partnership to contact Envirowise.
